(Photos by Joe Grippo) – Pennsylvania nostalgia drag racers and fans were out in force at the famed Maple Grove Raceway last weekend at the 2012 version of the Glory Daze Nostalgia Drags. With front engine dragsters, nostalgia super stocks, the Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Drag Racing Association, and a bunch of pre-1983 bracket race cars, the event was a hoot even with temps that soared well into the 90s. Oh, and this wasn’t the western “dry heat” this was good old sopping wet heat.
Joe Grippo was on the scene and he blasted a great gallery that really captures the essence of the event. From the way cool nostalgia super stocks, to the wide variety of cars with both the MANDRA group and the bracket crowd. This was a “racer’s race” meaning that there wasn’t huge headlining talent, nitro cars, etc. It was about getting a lot of racers with cool iron together and allowing them to hammer on their stuff on the strip. Simple and perfect, if you ask us.
