(Photos by Charles Wickam) – The Fun Ford Weekend series was brought back to life be a great group of race track owners and promoters a couple years ago and they haven’t looked back since. Charles Wickam invaded Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas with his camera and blasted hundreds of great photos of the drag strip, car show, and autocross. We’re going to break the galleries out over the next couple of days because Charles will be right back there at Royal Purple this weekend shooting the ADRL race for BangShift!
As you’ll see in this gallery, the show was a big hit and the place was packed for all three elements of the weekend. To us. it is really neat to watch more and more of these events include an autocross for guys who aren’t totally into the drag strip scene but still want to beat the snot out of their cars. In this gallery you’ll see slices of all three parts of the show. There are some killer show cars, some tire smoking drag strip runs, and more than a couple action shots from the cone course.

I’ve just bought a ’64 Falcon Futura two door hardtop. It was a six cylinder car and still retains its four lug front end, etc. BUT has an eoight inch out back so it must have seen race or havy street duty in the past. It’s got a pure ’70s incterior with black button tufted headliner and door panels. I don’t think the front bench sest is original, either but this little guy should be the start of a super street car
