(Photos by Joe Grippo) – Every winter, hot rodders, racers, and gearheads of all backgrounds in the greater Philadelphia area gather at the Philadelphia Expo Center for the annual Motorsports Expo. This show brings out drag cars, circle track machines, boats, hot rods, and major league manufacturers to show off and get everyone pumped for the upcoming racing season. It may seem like a long time off when the temps are hovering around zero degrees, but we promise that it won’t be long now!
Joe Grippo was at the show with his camera and filed a huge gallery. It is so huge that we busted it in half and will show you the first chunk of photos today and the rest tomorrow. There are a ton of great shots in here and they cover the racing gamut that we highlight all the time here on BangShift. Sprint cars? Got ’em. Drag cars of the long and skinny variety, door slammers with tires big and small, stock cars, a few hard core street machines and even a drag boat or two are highlighted here. If you are in the place where it feels like the glaciers are closing in and you’ll never see temps above freezing again, let this gallery warm you up and fill your brain with the smells of spent race gas and burning rubber!
