One of the great highlights of our 2013 PRO Winter Warm Up coverage was a half hour video interview with Ron Capps, the driver of the NAPA AA/FC and one of the great funny car pilots of all time. This interview covers an immense amount of ground from Ron’s family, his career, his history in the sport, and just what it takes to make a living driving the fastest vehicles on Earth. Ron is candid, emotional, and insightful. He tells amazing stories about stuff like the late Steve Evans sneaking him out of the infield care center at Indy after he was burned in a funny car explosion years ago, he talks about the incredible championship chase that saw him and Jack Beckman battle to the end in Pomona last year and what it was like to come up a couple points short. This is great stuff that you’ll never hear anywhere else because drivers simply don’t have the time to do an interview like this during the heat of battle on the NHRA trail.
