(Photos by Charles Wickam) – This is a neat event, especially this year. For starters, the Texas Joy Ride Rod Run has been going on for the better part of 25 years as of 2014 but potentially more important is the BangShift anniversary attached to it. You see fair reader, this was the first event that Charles Wickam shot for BangShift five years ago and here we are, hundreds of events and thousand of photos later right back where we started. We think that it is rad Charles covered this thing because he also shot a ton of drifting action (that you’ll see a little later) last weekend as well. The man had his hustle pants on.
The Texas Joy Ride Rod Run is a two day affair and as you will see it draws all levels and types of cars out. Hell, it even drew a t-bucket barbecue grill out this year. Charles shot photos of the grill so we’re wondering if he also nabbed the hot dogs we saw cooking inside. Mmmmmm….hot dogs. Anyway, there are classic muscle cars here, some amazing hot rods (like the one shown below), and some modern style builds like the truck (also shown below). All of this fun in a laid back atmosphere of appreciation and automotive enjoyment. What is better than that? Not much that we can conjure up.
So, before you hit the link and check out all of the fantastic photos Charles Wickam shot jump to the comment area and wish Charles a happy BangShifty birthday!
If the next 5 years is anything like the last 5 its gunna be a helluva fun ride, tbanx again to Brian and Chad for taking a chance on me
Great pics and nice to see a gallery with no rat rods and almost no flat paint!
I highly frown upon flat black paint jobs now days I do not want to glorify them anymore
Thanks Charles W! This has always been a great event since the very first one. Great people/great cars!
