Holley LS Fest 2018: Some Interesting New Attractions In The Amusement Park!

The 2017 Holley LS Fest was a record-breaker for attendance at the show that is solely centered around one manufacturer’s engine. That’s impressive. It’s even more impressive when you understand the scope of just what that means. Bowling Green’s police department have to play traffic cops to make sure that the steady stream of participants and spectators together can flow in and out of a race track that, effectively, has one two-lane entry-exit road. Parking is at a premium and fields that normally lay fallow (or are full of cheerful baby goats) suddenly become parking lots like you’d expect to see at the mall during Black Friday. For the 2018 Holley LS Fest, a slight change was made for Saturday, the day that everyone expects the house to be packed: for the first time ever, show cars were allowed to park within the borders of the amusement park section of Beech Bend. That means that instead of having the roller coaster in the distance, you could park your car, change into some swim trunks, ride some rides, hit a waterslide and if you were so inclined, you could pet a goat, too. (Hey, that’s what the sign said…I’m just explaining it accurately for you!)

The crowd on Saturday was not just another gigantic LS Fest batch. It was the single largest crowd for any one purpose in Beech Bend history. We’d give you the numbers, but the powers that be might still be tabulating them up. Either way, the masses were present and the asses were in the seats for the racing, the burnout competition, the drifting, and were walking the manufacturer’s midway hunting for that next gotta-have-it modification for their own car.
