(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – We’d never attended this event so we figured to give it a try and see if we like it. It is a great time and we spent a little more than 11 hours ogling at the cars, taking pictures, and chatting with people. The venue is good-size with a large main floor, wide concourse, and even a massive room on the third floor full of cars. Our pictures will prove there was a lot of variety. The show is sponsored by KOI and Federated auto parts and is also part of the Summit Racing Equipment show series. In this gallery are some of the full-on show cars competing for the top trophies. These are the reported winners:
Brian & Gianna Ganos ’69 Camaro – Squires Cup
Steve Brody ’64 GTO – KOI Award
Alton Love ’55 Chevy – Steele Rubber Products Master Builder Award
Dave Warner ’48 Studebaker – CASI Cup
Some highlights –
-The blue ’69 Camaro’s engine compartment is a work of art and, refreshingly, not a modern LS. -The traditional-looking ’56 Chevy looked cruise-ready.
-The only thing we didn’t like about the orange over silver Impala was leaving the coils on the valve covers and highlighting them. Otherwise I thought the car is brilliant.
-The E-force-blown ’56 F100 was super cherry and smooth.
-The B&B Speed Shop, FE-powered F-100 was equally cool and full of neat details.
-We gave up trying to count the number of louvers featured on the orange over black ’55.
-The black ’64 GTO was neat as a pin and completely new-car fresh.
Enjoy.
