(Photos by Jeff and Mike Burghardt) – Yesterday we showed you people and sportsman action from the 2014 NHRA Winternationals and today we show you the pros in nitro burning funny cars, top fuel dragsters, and pro stock. The 2014 Winternationals were certainly impressive with respect to the action on the track. There were thrills like John Force cannonballing the record, chills like the fire and explosion that the Pedregon brothers experiences and spills like the massive explosion and later wall scrape that Ron Capps gutted through during the weekend. In pro stock Larry Morgan pulled the upset of the meet when he knocked off Allen Johnson in the first round on a mondo hole shot in his Ford Mustang. Morgan was happy as a clam during that top end interview, we saw it ourselves!
This was the first race of the long 24-race NHRA Mello Yello drag racing campaign for 2014. As many of you have heard, I am going to be calling some of these races from the announcer booth with the rest of the crew at the track and I’m excited about that. I hitch onto the tour when it swings through Charlotte and hit several races in a row on the eastern side of the country. I’m excited to see these men and women get after it and each other on the strip.
