Quick Shots: A Few Pictures From The Fontanel Cruise-In

Every Thursday night in 2014 between now and September 25th, the Fontanel Concert Cruise-In is held on the grounds of the Fontanel Mansion. Our friend Jeff Lee has shot this show for us before in the past (Click here to see that gallery) and has wanted me to come down and check it out. With the Imperial in the shop getting it’s A/C sorted out, we packed up the Angry Grandpa 300C and drove down. With weather looming, the turnout wasn’t as numerous as anyone had hoped, but there were still several nice machines to look at while listening to the band, having a burger or just taking in the sights…it really is beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, the show got cut short when the skies opened up. Seeing how the show is only a short drive away and seeing how much there is to do while there, I expect to be down there fairly regularly. Hey, if nothing else tickles your fancy, they have a distillery on-site, and the hostesses inside know exactly what they are doing behind the counter!

Take a look at some of the rides that appeared:

This Chevelle’s license plate doesn’t lie. Add in a six-speed manual and you have a Power Tour candidate.

This “so retro it’s kind of cool” Nova sounded like it wanted a fight.

Yep…a lime-green Trabant. If the Nova wanted a fight, this one sounded like it wanted to weed-eat your garden.

Ohhh, mother. This Dodge makes me think of an Australian burnout contest car.

This Falcon wagon was cleaner than the picture shows.

This Pontiac had very low miles and it’s window sticker still in the window.

Patina done right. Has that perfect “fresh from the farm” look.
