Massive car shows have their place, but we dig the small cruise-ins that bring out a little bit of everything. It doesn’t take too much to entice the locals to bring out their rides and show them off…find a good location with plenty of parking, something enticing for them to enjoy while they are there…ice cream, for example…and if you’ve got a reason besides “why not?”, all the better. The Bruster’s ice cream shop has been supporting gearheads in the Bowling Green area for a while…if you’ve found yourself near heatstroke at Beech Bend, chances are good that you’ve happily handed over a couple of bucks for a couple of scoops in a waffle cone. Once a week on Tuesdays, at their main location, they hold a cruise-in that raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). It’s a laid-back affair…park your car, walk around and check out the other cars parked with you. It’s a mellow crowd that enjoys the evening and the rides, and while there are regulars, we often find several new or different cars at each show!
