Field Of Dreams: An Oklahoma Salvage Yard Is Ready To Move Their Collection. Interested?

It’s a dream for us: the old junkyard. None of the Pull-A-Part kind of deal, but the place where cars were parked in rows and were left to the elements, whatever they brought. The kind of place where you could spend days picking over each abandoned shell, looking at machines that ranged from the bones of what once was to a whole car that might have had one problem that sent it to it’s resting spot. We dream of such a spot, where we can look at cars gone by that we might not have seen in years, decades…hell, maybe even ever.

We got tipped off by Spencer Eldred that Bud’s Salvage in northwest Oklahoma is starting to unload their collection of old iron and that we might want to take a look. A quick look on their Facebook page tells the tale: photographs of excellent old iron that needs to be brought back into the light. Cars in prairie grass on the planes, sun-rashed but otherwise filled with potential, ready to go. Take a look at a sample of some of the cars they have posted up:

That’s just a teaser. Good metal is hard to find and yes, they are selling cars whole. They also have buildings filled with parts removed that are ready to be moved on, too. Makes you wonder what is hiding in the tall grass, doesn’t it?

Isn’t that last picture of one of those rare Nash’s that the AssMonkey on the TV said was worth alota money?? Where is that clown at now?? Is he still filling his swimming pool with greenbacks from the gullible??

Nope. That’s a Borg Ward, an odd German (?) car (maybe Dutch or ???). Anyhow, a few were imported in the mid 50s to mid 60s timeframe but they never caught on in a big way.

In the 2nd to last picture is that “Big Tex” from Vegas standing in the background? Sure looks like it. Wonder what they want for him? Probably not easy to transport something that’s 30 feet long with a regular car trailer half way across country.
