I’ve said for years that the program that gets people their driver’s licenses needs a major revamp. What you will see in this video simply piles on to the evidence that can be pulled at any second to justify my claims. Captured near Canal Winchester, Ohio, the driver of what appears to be an Isuzu Rodeo backs off of U.S. Highway 33, up the onramp (you know, the wrong way…), then turns onto Gender Road before disappearing into a parking lot…all in reverse. The Ohio Department of Transportation is speculating that the SUV might have had transmission issues, and that is why the driver chose this rather unorthodox method of driving.
Nah, we aren’t buying that one. Transmission troubles means get the vehicle out of traffic ASAP. If they had backed out of the main traffic on U.S. 33 and onto the shoulder, no problem…we could understand that if reverse was the only remaining gear in the box. But backing up the on-ramp, then backing through a couple of intersections? The driver should consider themselves lucky that they managed to make this happen without injury or causing an accident, and the ODOT says it best at the end of the video: “Don’t be that driver.”
Looks like it must have a 3 speed reverse, or some serious Photoshop action.
At 37 seconds in….is that a police Crown Vic on the off ramp? If so, our back up driver was lucky that he went by that off ramp before the cop showed up.
its just a sign of the times-going forward in reverse
Lot of traffic through there that time of the morning. Tough enough when your driving like your suppose to, much less in reverse.
mater worlds best backwards driver
