First Look: The “Ice Cars” From The Upcoming “Fast 8” Film – What Are They Doing, Racing In The Arctic?

First Look: The “Ice Cars” From The Upcoming “Fast 8” Film – What Are They Doing, Racing In The Arctic?

(All photos: via Facebook/Fast & Furious) We knew that Universal Studios was going to push on with the
“Fast and Furious” franchise after the death of Paul Walker. We know that the film is shifting premises yet again…after making the jump from street-racing to heists, it’s now moving into a storyline about spies, so expect more of what you’ve seen with the last two films. We know that filming has taken place in Iceland and that the studio had been seeking permission from the United States and Cuban governments to film in Cuba. We know that Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren…wow…have roles in the film, alongside Elsa Pataky, who is reprising her role of Elena Neves (the Rio officer who paired off with Officer Hobbs, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), and Lucas Black, who is reprising his role as Sean Boswell (the street racer who drove the monster Monte Carlo in the otherwise awful “Tokyo Drift”.)

These photos are the first official photos for the cars that will be appearing in the new film. There should be absolutely no shock that Dominic Toretto’s Charger has returned, looking like the street car from the last film, but flared out and set up for ice-racing duty.  But what about the rest?

fast 8 rally fighter

Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) has tended to drive something relatively close to whatever Dom is driving, with a Mopar kick lately. For the ice, she is using a Local Motors Rally Fighter. In a rare display of sensibility for a Fast and Furious movie, we commend the pick, with studded tires and LED light bars being the only major modifications.

fast 8 lambo

Roman (Tyrese Gibson) goes for style over practicality, and his vehicle preference has been all over the map, though you could say he is a Chevy guy (Monte Carlo in 2 Fast 2 Furious and Camaro in Fast Seven). On the surface, a blaze-orange Lamborghini Murcielago might not be the best choice, but the all-wheel-drive system might be helpful.

fast 8 ram

Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) has always had beastly, military-esque vehicles, and this monster, which is based off of a Ram, certainly fits. No idea what the hell is hanging off of the back, though..some kind of anchor?

fast 8 ripsaw

Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) is another automotive chameleon, but what you are seeing is proof that he doesn’t screw around. That is a Ripsaw EV2 “luxury tank”. It’s a tracked vehicle that can power slide at healthy speeds. We like this one.

Any guesses on what other cars they break out for the next installment? Let us know below!

oh when are these shitty F&F franchise movies going to stop? They should be boycotted by anyone who thinks of themselves as a car head. Stupid plots, utterly retarded `tech’ statements that mean absolutely nothing in the real world, and have spawned a generation of ricer retards that actually believe this vile crap, wooden actors who must have been paid bucketloads to appear in this garbage…. no offence Paul Walker, but the one good thing I hoped that would come out of his death was the end of these vile films. You may have gathered I’m not a fan…I’ve tried to watch them, but generally get about 10 minutes in before I’m just angry and want to throw things at the screen. Bangshift, why are you featuring this crap?

Just saw one of the Rally Fighters in the Local Motors new Knoxville plant….those are way cool! I can’t get into the movies, but the fans of these movies buy parts from our industry, and I’m really into that!

Wow – all that Charger needs is some chrome plated, curb feelers that double as mine detectors – FAR OUT MAN!!!

Meh the movies are entertaining, minus the 4th one. After the first 3 they are so far from being about cars its not even a question of it being a car movie, they aren’t. They are just entertainment. If they make 8 or 30 it doesn’t matter to me. I like them. I know from the rocks Instagram they have a Nissan prototype in the film and a 63 belair.

Enough already, please, people actually believe this automotive garbage– like when one hits the nitrous oxide button all holy hell breaks loose and the occupants are slammed soooo hard into the seats it makes a shuttle launch feel like a Prius accelerating onto the freeway. Slammed so hard the driver can barley maintain grip on the steering wheel. That black Chargers can rip bumper dragging wheel stands that shame “Hemi-under glass” or Little Red wagon. Seriously, do not encourage any more of this movie swill.

Sorry boys. If these movies sucked to the movie going audiences, they would not have made a second one, much 7 more. They brought in more $1 billion, so it appears the haters are in the minority.

They are not my cup of tea either. Too much like some video game.

Hmmm… Naws? Really Naws? I thought it was NOS its an acronym. Out my way after the first F&F movie came out our street racing scene went from a few hundred people and some really fast cars running to totally main stream and trying to dodge all the wanna bes it totally ruined the scene too many cops and too much waiting around for cars to run but the funny thing is I watched the last three so there ya go eh?
