Force and Pedregon Make Nice; End of Season A Lot Less Interesting

The John Force/Tony Pedregon feud has ended, so we’re being told by the Associated Press. We’ll go on record saying that we’re disappointed to hear that news, and suddenly, what was going to be a fantastic story on the track is back to being bland.

The only darkhorse in this deal is Cruz Pedregon who has not been asked what his current feelings are about Force. Cruz is equipped with a different temper than his brother Tony, so we’re thinking that there is still some possibility for fireworks in these last few races of the NHRA season.

It would have been cool if the guys maybe shook hands behind the scenes and never really let on as to keep the rivalry alive on the surface. It was a riveting moment in drag racing and seemingly everyone took sides instantly after the donnybrooke.

Who knows if it was pressure from sponsors, their families, or other racers, but the two guys have buried the hatchet (probably not all the way, but most of it) for the time being. If the scenario arises that Tony is knocked out of the NHRA’s Countdown to One because of team Force plotting and shenanigans, all bets may be off.

Have no idea what we’re talking about? Here’s a timeline:
