Building A Tough Engine And Need A Tough Cam? COMP Cams Has You Covered With GM Sportsman Tool Steel Camshafts

Today’s world of hot rodding is unlike any time that has come before it. Enthusiasts and racers are building engines that no one even 20 years ago dreamed possible and in doing so, making the types of power that can blow off the superheroes of yore. COMP cams knows that when you are building such power, looking for durability, and unwavering in your quest for the best that they need to have products to suit your needs. Their line of custom GM sportsman tool steel camshafts uses a special ST4 grade tool steel that is only available through them and is 30% stronger than the tool steel that is typically used across the industry.

Whether we’re talking about a stock car engine that is going to get driven hard at WOT for long periods of time, a road racing engine that is constantly getting its brains beat out through the rev range, or a drag racing engine that is built on the ragged edge to get every last horsepower, these cams could be the difference between success and failure.

Leave it to COMP to make an already awesome thing better. More details below.

COMP Cams® GM Sportsman Tool Steel Camshafts –

Memphis, TN – Custom GM Sportsman Tool Steel Camshafts from COMP Cams® feature core technology widely used in NASCAR, NHRA and other professional race engines for its high strength and profile flexibility.

Special ST4 grade tool steel is available only from COMP Cams® and 30 percent stronger than SAE 5150 or SAE 8620 options. Due to its higher carbon content, it has been shown to wear less than the S7 tool steel popular industry wide, as well as case-hardened grades up to SAE 9310. ST4 camshafts are also superior to those made from induction-hardened or carburized steel cores.

Because they are through-hardened, GM Sportsman Tool Steel Camshafts can handle more aggressive profiles and offer engine builders the opportunity to choose virtually any combination of duration, lift, lobe separation and advance. The camshafts can also be reground multiple times for fine tuning or annual refreshes without material degradation.
