Scott Speed’s name does not come up in a conversation about racing drivers without strong reaction from those involved. Some will strongly defend him as a talented driver who has had some opportunitoes that never panned out and others will call him every name in the book. He’s driven Formula One cars and now he’s in NASCAR, but it’s the way he got to both places that makes his story so good.
Ryan McGee’s piece from ESPN.com is a great look at one of the most misunderstood and mislabeled race car drivers we’ve come across in recent times. He’s anything but a spoiled punk and has seemingly scraped his way up the ladder from ride to ride by working every ounce of talent he has.
We’ll admit to being totally wrong on this guy. Unless McGee’s story is a complete fabrication, Scott Speed certainly seens like the kind of guy we’d love to hang out with and get a few corner-carving tips from.
