UPDATE: A DIY Classic Car Restoration From India

When we received an e-mail with the link we’re sharing below about a guy restoring a classic car in India, we were very leery of what we’d find. Rather than seeing lots of bizarre fixes, we found a dude with skills doing stuff like gas welding, and stripping the paint off the car with what looks to be a chisel or a pick of some kind. Totally BangShift approved!

The next time you bitch that your air tools or other “can’t live without it” gadget is broken, think of this guy and what he’s working with. Hell, they pulled the motor with a piece of pipe and some old fan belts! It is a small motor though.

The car is an Indian piece called a Standard Herald. We have no clue about what year it is, what motor is in it, or anything else for that matter. I would look sweet with an LS mill in the front, but the stocker is going back in, once the rest of the car is completed.

This thread ain’t about the car, it is about being BangShifty and not letting obstacles stop you from getting the job done. The thread is pretty long, but there are tons of photos that do a great job of telling the story.

Thanks to Jack Dozer for the tip!

It has been a while since we updated you on the progress of a very BangShifty project that’s going down over in India. This is the restoration of an old Standard Herald and it is being done on a small budget with lots of elbow grease, creativity, and gumption. The surrounding are humble, but the attitude is world class. This is all about getting the job done and looking past any obstacles or obstructions! In this update you’ll see work done to the frams, and the body gets remounted. The frame is very interesting looking. Hell, the whole car is!
