You’ve undoubtedly seen Barry Meguiar either on Car Crazy TV or at one of the zillion car shows he attends each season. It’s good to know that Barry is just as passionate about hot rods and cool cars in real life as well. The Orange County Register recently ran an interview with Meguiar, and it is a great read.
The story of growing the family business from a $600,000 per year sales level to the $100,000,000 level it is at currently could make for its own book. It is a truly American success story with a father handing down a business to a son who took it to the moon. It is mentioned in the story that Meguiar’s sponsors 12,000 car shows. That there is reason enough to support the man.
The writer who crafted this story for the OC Register was not exactly versed on the whole car thing, but he managed to pull it off decently. It seems that Meguiar is the same guy on and off camera. That’s good for us and good for the car hobby in general. This guys is out there and mixing it up with grass roots car people from all walks of life.
