Great Read: Bill Caswell Goes Mini-Cup Stock Car Racing

Last we checked in with our rally pal Bill Caswell, he was hamming it up over at the Goodwood Festival in England. Since then he’s been keeping busy working on some other projects which we have been sworn to secrecy on and he’s managed to find himself at the wheel of some neat cars, the latest of which was a mini-cup stock car which he raced in Michigan and documented the experience for Jalopnik.

Plunking a road racer/rally guy into a little mini-stock car makes for great reading. In his typical self-depreciating style, Caswell takes us through the car as well as through the experience of being whooped up on by locals, kids, and other series regulars. This was the first time he had ever raced on an oval and the experience left a big impression on him. Bill’s honesty and ability to laugh at himself make the story fun. He gives the racers the respect and praise that they rightfully deserve after fighting his way throug a great race on a 3/8 mile oval.

Since he’s done the road racing thing, the rally thing, and now the oval thing, we feel that it is our BangShift duty to get Bill some seat time in a ballsy drag race car. Want to help and get some ink along the way? Shoot us an e-mail to [email protected] if you are willing to let Caswell wheel your junk!
