We’re back again with another load of scans from our grandfather’s scrap books of old wrecks, crazy photos, and gearhead history from the late 1940s and early 1950s. This time we’re bringing you some of the nuttiest stuff yet. Hey, who knew a butter truck could catch fire and blaze to the ground?
As usual, this is just a mere sampling of the stuff we have left to bring you. We’re still working through the first of the two albums we were given to scan. Amazingly, everyone in the photos lived, according to the clippings that came with the photos. A couple of these photos seem to make that sound like a lie. Kiss your airbags when you hop into your daily driver tonight.
If you love this stuff, here’s a clickable index to our previous posts of vintage carnage and wreckage:
Part 1: A fire, a sinkhole, and a car carrier up-ended in a lake
Part 4: Head-on into trees, oil-truck fires, a stunt gone wrong, and a car rolling 12 times.
Part 5: Five-car pileup, train versus car, exploding ammo trucks.
Part 6: Wrecks, lumber-truck rollover, driver trapped in a truck cab.
