How Many Cars Went Into This Custom 1973 Porsche 914? Chrysler, Chevrolet, Ferrari…Are We Missing Any?

How Many Cars Went Into This Custom 1973 Porsche 914? Chrysler, Chevrolet, Ferrari…Are We Missing Any?

Happy Halloween! Ok, that might be a bit harsh, but let’s be honest: I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever late 1990s Chrysler body panels mated up to a Porsche roadster with Ferrari-like strakes and a close duplication of a C5 Corvette’s ass. We aren’t kidding at all: a combination of Chrysler Concorde and 300M parts make up that front section, the interior doesn’t make us think of 1970s Porsche (we might be wrong, but it looks like 1980s BMW 3-series at first glance), the strake design is pure Testarossa with a little bit of Porsche 959 thrown in for good measure, and that back end…wow. And just to top everything off, it’s powered by a Chevrolet small-block, because of course it would be.

I will give this 914 every possible compliment I can: I like the shade of red they picked, I like the fact that it’s a V8 roadster that should handle fairly well, and I’m genuinely impressed that somebody used a 1999 Concorde grille on a roadster like this…maybe it’s just me, but on that otherwise forgettable sedan, the bottom-breather grille was the prettiest part and, if the headlights had been different, the front of the car could start to pull off a classic late-60s Ferrari look. Kind of. The interior is everything you need and nothing you don’t, and someone out there at least had the nuts to put this thing together, and with an eye towards quality…the build doesn’t look half-assed apart from the tail’s styling. Something is missing back there, though we don’t think we can offer any suggestions at this point.

If for some reason you’re clawing your way through your computer screen, screaming “I NEED THIS NOW!!”, the good news is that you could potentially own it. This little roadster is going up for auction November 5th at the Auctions America event at Hilton Head Island, and if you have the cash, Lot 117 can be all yours…if you’ve got the roughly $35,000 or so it’ll take to bring it home!

Happy bidding!

How is it that nearly every barf mobile on these pages is either based on a Chevrolet or is Chevrolet powered?

The answer is quite simply – someone has to build this crap to make everything Ford-related shine like a beacon of good taste….

I think its gorgeous. Looks like the next version of the Dino. Which is technically a Fiat that looks like a ferrari and had a ferrari mid engine put in sideways.

Avenger headlights would look better, but overall it’s got plenty of wow factor & it looks fun to drive.
