Man, the news is flying out of ECTA HQ this week . Yesterday they released the information on their new electric motorcycle class and now they have opened the flood gates of registration for 2012 events at the newly minted Ohio Mile. If you want to run your junk there, you best not delay in getting your paperwork going because events are capped at 175 entries and we can promise you that there are LOTS more than 175 racers dying to let it all hang out in Wilmington, Ohio this year.
As is the case with any new LSR venue, especially one with the visibility and central location as the Wilmington track, racers crave the opportunity to be the first to set new records in their class on the fresh surface. In talking with Keith and Tonya Turk of the ECTA, this runway that will be used is on par with the racing surface at Loring, Maine which most that race there have said is the smoothest, nicest facility they have run at.
Words to the wise. If you are the newb and are planning on running your stuff at Wilmington, READ THE RULE BOOK and make sure you are 100% in compliance on the safety front. The ECTA conducts and rigorous and thorough inspection of each and every car and we have personally seen them but the kibosh on cars that aren’t up to snuff. They don’t want you to waste your money or time, or take a spot from someone who does have their stuff together, so consider that when entering.
