Man alive is this cool! We were tipped off to an amazing collection of nearly 400 photos taken at the long dead NY National Speedway in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They all seem to have been taken at a couple different events and these photos totally rule. If you dig old funnies, fuelers, and super stock action along with guys like EJ Potter, you’ll go nuts for these!
The coolest part for us is just recognizing how varied and different the flopper field was. Remember, virtually all of these cars were running the same make of motor as the body. Bruce Larson’s Camaro? Big block Chevy on fuel. Hayden Profitt’s AMC Rebel? You guessed it, the car really ran an AMC engine on pop! Same as the Fords, and the Chryslers, well they weren’t running slant sixes, we’ll guarantee that!
