Kid Crashes Camaro, Gives Cops Flimsy Story, and They Seem to Buy It

When we read about two high school kids in a Camaro wiping out a fire hydrant in California we thought the kids were in for it legally. We then read the story that they gave the coppers about the Camaro suffering a simultaneous failure of both the power steering and brakes and we knew they were in for it. We were wrong as it seems everyone is on board with their account of the events.

The two guys in the car, 17 year-old Chris Fehlman who was driving and 18 year-old passenger Matt Crawford told the police that as they were madking a left turn out of a shopping center the brakes and power steering went out causing them to knock a fire hydrant off its mount. Amazingly, even with the power steering and brakes not functional, the kids drove the car a mile down the road and got it hauled down safely.

Call us cynical, but we’re going all doubting Thomas on this one. Our gasoline muddled brains can kind of see that Camaro getting crossed up, wiping out the hydrant, and two kids thinking about running away but coming to their senses about a mile down the road.

That’s just us though.
