K&N Spring Fling Million: More Door Cars From The Monster Throw Down!

K&N Spring Fling Million: More Door Cars From The Monster Throw Down!

$375,000 for one day’s worth of hard work, perseverance and luck is a hell of a goal to shoot for, isn’t it? At the Spring Fling Million, there are many different prizes that can be won not only each day, but sometimes each round…but there is only one BIG prize, and that was what Friday was all about. The only day that had a buyback allowed, the day that everyone was concerned about, the day that had every last racer focused with a falcon’s eye on the prize, was the actual Spring Fling Million race itself. Dragsters and door cars all slugged it out from morning until…well, morning. In-between those two points were hours of knock-down, drag-out bracket racing that saw lightning-strike launches at the tree and drivers messing with each other’s head the entire way down the 1/8th mile of The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. If there was a shock to the system, it was how smoothly everything went all day long. In the fourteen solid hours of racing, one dragster popped an engine halfway down the track and caused a cleanup that the track crew took care of in short order, and Brandon Umberger’s Chevette sent it’s driveshaft back to the big machinist in the sky, scattering needle bearings all over the starting line, which brought out the sweeper. That was all!

If you think that this is the end of our coverage from the Spring Fling Million, you have us all wrong! The race might be over, but we still have more photos on the way!
