Lambrecht Collection Auction Online Bidding Has Begun, Some Prices Already Insane

Lambrecht Collection Auction Online Bidding Has Begun, Some Prices Already Insane

Are we the only ones that didn’t know the auction for the Lambrecht Collection has effectively begun with online bidding? The bad news for us is that they aren’t accepting gum and pocket link for bids, but the good news is that we can follow along and see what has been drawing the attention of bidders all over the world. As of this writing, there are a few special vehicles really getting people’s dander up and drawing some significant bidding. Here’s a quick list of the “big money” stuff so far –

  • 1964 Impala 2Dr Hardtop – currently at $22,250 (ZERO miles)
  • 1965 Impala 2Dr Hardtop – currently at $17,250 (12 miles)
  • 1958 Cameo pickup currently at $26,000   (1.3 original miles)
  • 1978 Indy Pace Car Corvette currently at $35,500 (4 FREAKING original miles)
  • ….and a whole crap ton more stuff.

We expected this auction to be completely insane but seeing as internet bidding is already driving the prices of stuff into the range of insanity, we can’t imagine where these cars will end up when the live auction kicks off and big money dudes are standing there front and center throwing their cash around. The fact remains is that this is one of the truly last places on Earth to buy old Chevrolets that are effectively brand new cars. They have never been restored, never been driven, and never been sold. For people who are into originality and unmolested stuff in the realm of Chevrolets, there is nothing like this auction that will ever happen again. That’s a fact, Jack.

Hit the link below and check out the entire auction catalog and what the internet bidding is currently at. Anyone hoping to score a deal at this auction is definitely high at this point. Once you see where the numbers are heading more than a week before the actual main event, you’ll understand what we mean.

We’re interested to head what you think. Does it make sense that these cars and trucks are already bringing insane money? Should we be surprised to see it sky rocketing already?!

I see a lot of project cars in need of serious floorpan repairs. There will be no bargains had at this auction. As for the ’78 Corvette, there are a zillion of them sitting in storage with zero miles because everyone and their grandmother thought they’d be collectible someday. Same thing happened to a ton of 2002 Camaros.

I am more curious as to why they are photoshopping the pics. check the chevelle in the last pic. side glass. what is going on there?

Roof damage from the building it was in collapsing due to snow load. It is clearly stated in the auction description. Maybe do some research before assuming photoshopping?

I caught that and was typing a correction. maybe stop being such an anal dipshit, and not be so quick to jump down a total strangers throat?

So what if low milage in the shape these are they need complete restoration. .not worth what they will sell for…imop..

Those wanting these vehicles will be happy to know those that don’t think they are worth anything will stay away during the auction. I’ve seen the vehicles up close and personal and it is simply mind blowing to see so many. If we uncovered just one of those in a farm field, we’d be giddy with joy at discovering something so complete and repairable. Indeed all of these cars and trucks, even the ones that managed to stay indoors all of their lives, will need attention. But who cares? There’s only a finite number of these still hiding out, just waiting to be discovered. And the 78 Pace Car? I guess somebody thinks it has some special value and they are willing to pay for it.

Who cares if it’s worth it because they need a total restoration? Seriously guys, have you ever known a car collector to bat an eyelash at paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for something unique? These cars aren’t for us BS wrench’n wreck folks like us, they’re going to the Jay Lenos and Ken Behrings of the world (Those are the only two names I could come up with but you know what I mean.) These cars will be restored and see the underside of a diaper for the rest of their show and shine lives and you will tell your grandchildren “I remember when they put all these cars up for auction…I was all set to buy….but then…”

The whole idea of the low miles and original, as built, equipment, make these cars priceless. Personally, I wouldn’t want one, because I like driving the wheels off my junk! But, Man….I would love to see them!

That Chevelle and some of the other cars were posted years ago on Carsinbarns.com. It had a tree on the roof as did about 10 other vehicles of the same vintage clustered around it.

    Those prices must be fake

who in their right mind would bid a 85 Pontiac wagon tha’ts been laying in a grove for 20 years up to $4100.00

    I smell something rotten

Bad business minds?? They paid a couple grand a piece at most and now selling for 10-20 times that. Didn’t even pay for storage.

It`s Assholes like Counting Cars and Assmonkees that will by these, Band-Aid them together and flip them for more than their worth.

I’m trying to think of something stupid to say, but I’m sure someone else can do that better than me. Carry on…..

I don’t care how little miles they have on them, they’ve been sitting outside in the weather, so I’m sure the interiors are shot, most likely some of the engines are frozen, I would consider paying big buck for these cars if they kept indoor, and in pristine condition, which from the photos, I’m gathering they are not.

  13. JEREMIAH JOHNSON

Why would I pay big bucks for weather-beaten, rusty, crunchy interior vehicles which have been sitting outside??

  14. O Chrisman

It is obvious why these cars are going for big dough. Regardless of how rare or common they are, the winning bidder becomes the first owner of these classics. That is what draws everyone’s attention. Its knowing that your dream is possible of owning a new old car. Us blue collar workers may not even be able to afford the used cars that are up for bid, but its still awesome to see something like this.

I waiting to see this ayction for months The coverage of this event on History channel WAS THE WORST COVERAGE OF ANY EVENT IN TELEVISION HISTORY. It WAS LIKE THEY DOING A TV SHOW AND THE AUCTION WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLANET. You watch an auction to see the cars. I watched the entire broadcast and saw 1 car actually get sold. The rest of the time we saw 3 idiots blabbing. Show the fucking cars you morons. The cars were what everyone wanted to see. Where the auctioneer is selling the car…SHUT UP. A guy bought back his ’57 Chevy. They talked about the guy but never interviewed him. That was the best story of the day. Did we see it…no just like the cars. The most pissed off I have been in my 53 years of watching TV. Next time let Velocity do it. Oh wait, this was a once in a lifetime event.
