The Living Legends of Auto Racing is an organization that works hard to preserve the history of racing on Daytona Beach and of all the the pioneers of Stock Car racing. Unfortunately for them, the person who was charged with managing the money was robbing the place blind.
Deborah Sue Burdick was arrested and charged with grand theft of $21,000 after it was discovered that a check, which Burdick claimed was being used to pay bills, ended up in a personal account of hers.
The News Journal Online has the full story, but it may be that this $21,000 dollar heist was only the beginning as the company is currently short more than $40,000 on the books. The people from Living Legends are cited in the story as believing that Burdick has a gambling problem and that this money may have been taken to support that habit.
