Asde from the four-lane Funny Car exhibition, the other big news to come out of the NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMax Dragway September 18-20 was the announcement that Lucas Oil signed a contract extension with the NHRA to continue its sponsorship of the sportsman Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. This is great news for Sportsman level racers across the country who race with the NHRA.
The Lucas Oil name is seemingly everywhere. They have the naming rights on the Indianapolis Colts stadium in Indy, they sponsor scads of race cars, boats, trucks, and all other manner of stuff, they’re seen on television as well with the “Lucas Oil On the Edge” show that runs on SPEED.
Their contract extension is one thing that drag racers can be happy about these days while the clouds of economic uncertainty seem to hang in a menacing fashion over the sport, and all motorsports at this time. Forrest and Charlotte Lucas should be commended for their support of not only drag racing, but of motorsports as a whole. It seems that they are the most prolific sponsor in the country.
