An exotic car club outing gone horribly wrong resulted in the destruction of eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini, and a couple of high dollar Mercedes on a Japanese highway over the freshly completed weekend. The story has been picked up by major news outlets all over the world and we’ve got to think that this could be the largest single loss of Ferraris in one wreck on a public road.
Apparently things went south in a hurry when one of the drivers lost the handle on his Ferrari while taking a corner on the wet highway. After hitting the median barrier, the wayward Ferrari slid back across the highway causing bedlam behind it when drivers landed on the brakes and took evasive manuvers to avoid the sliding car. No word on how they did avoiding the initial crash car, but they did a pretty bad job of avoiding each other! The photos you can see after hitting the link below show the carnage pretty good. The Ferraris range from an old school Testarossa to newish 360s and what look to be 430s.
All we know is that some poor bastard at an insurance company probably wants to jump out a window right about now. Every time his desk phone rings he probably breaks out in flop sweats!
The good news is that no one was seriously injured in the wreckage and the highway was reopened after six hours of cleanup and accident investigation. No word on where the club is heading next, but we suggest you stay the hell off of that road.
As much as that sucks,
“Traffic police spokesman Mitsuyoshi Isejima called the event “a gathering of narcissists,””
haha, I’m sure these guys can afford it.
Maybe they all should have started with buying some driving lessons.
I guess this means there will be more foder out there for another Ferambo and the like.
I want a V12!!
Wow the speed limit in Japan is only 65KPH,about 45mph, talk about running out of talent.
I’m sure nobody was over the posted limit there.
Lest we forget, in Japan they drive on the wrong side of the road and these all appear to be LHD cars.
For Sale: slightly used V12s. Take your pick.
Somewhere, Eddie Griffin is laughing his ass off.
look up his escapade on youtube….
Ha. Gramps was right, the most expensive cars in the world don’t include talent to drive them.
Godzilla probably ran out in front of them and caused the wreck.
