We are less than two weeks away from Speed Week on the Bonneville Salt Flats and that means that we’re all giddy around here. Speed Week is basically our favorite week of the entire year because we get to see not only old friends but we also get to see new people racing new stuff and trying to set records. Some of that “new stuff” is scratch built and some of it is bought by perspective record setters and then run. If you wanted to go fast with a turn key car at Bonneville, it sure seems like the F-motor Blown Gas Modified Roadster that we found for sale on RacingJunk would be your jam!
This car does not currently hold a record but it did qualify for one last year with a speed of over 234mph back in 2016. Powered by a turbocharged Esslinger four cylinder which shifted using a GForce transmission, the package looks rock solid. The car is beautiful and judging by the ad, it seems that perhaps lateral control was an issue at one point, hence the addition of the large rear wing and strakes that the seller claims keep the car going straight right to the turnoff.
This is a neat car and anything that could get you into the famed “2-club” on the salt is worthy of your time and attention. Hell, go in on it with 5 buddies and split the driving chores, bumping up records each time you can. The modified roadster category is one of the toughest on the salt and contains some really capable machinery from the thundering big block cars to high strung runners with small engines like this one.
