Red Sled: This 1967 Ford Ranch Wagon Is A Big-Block, Four-Speed Family Truckster!

Red Sled: This 1967 Ford Ranch Wagon Is A Big-Block, Four-Speed Family Truckster!

The long-roof itch is one that will never be fully scratched around here. We love our wagons! We love them to have power, to have personality, and if it’s got three pedals, then all the better. And this 1967 Ford Ranch Wagon scratches each and every itch. Ranch Wagons were the lowest tier on the station wagon scale at Ford. You could have sprung for a Country Sedan or the more well-known Country Squire, complete with that sweet, sweet wood paneling, but the Ranch Wagon was simply admitting that you went cheap with no shame whatsoever. We’d stick with the comparisons between the wagon levels, but that would simply be filler…instead, focus on what this Ranch Wagon has been turned into: our ideal family vehicle. It’s not an SUV. It’s got air conditioning, disc brakes at all four corners, and tinted glass for comfort and ease of operation. It’s got a 428ci with a 3×2 setup on top, a TopLoader four-speed and a factory Trac-Lok rear axle, so when the on-ramps come up, the kids can get ready to feel some acceleration g‘s. And the best reason of all to own this thing: it isn’t an anonymous silver blob that has all the personality of a soap bubble in dirty dishwater.

Remember when wagons weren’t cool and you couldn’t wait to raid the engine so you could send that body off to the yard? Yeah…start atoning for that. There isn’t any part of this car we’d change. Kudos to the builder and whoever had the vision to put it together, they knocked it out of the park.

If we could attach pics you could see my 66 Q code Country Squire daily driver.
I agree. Wagons are bad ass.

Nothing’s more depressing than looking for an eBay or Craigslist link to the car and finding a Mecum Auction link instead… 🙁

The 67 wagon is the best looking offering from Ford a couple years before and many years after . This is an awesome ride . It looks perfect ! Marc is right , wagons are bad ass .

    I’m drooling ….
    Uncle had wagons – a ’61 , ’63 -3 speed 352 BB and manual OD – then a 67 that hung around a while then went to a 74 Green Tomatoe

After living w/ an 84 CV for a few years camping w/ kids , etc I wanted to find a ’91 wagon in good shape – last of the wagons …didn’t happen in NE

I wonder if the modern lust for SUVs made these cool again. Anyhow, looks like they did everything right on this one, and three pedals! Wow! come on sweepstakes ticket!
