Monday Time Killer: The King of Show Cars

Monday Time Killer: The King of Show Cars

If you are into movies and TV, you are going to love the collection we found at Jay Ohrberg’s Hollywood Cars. Considered by many to be “The King of Show Cars,” Ohrberg’s style is nothing if not extreme. He’s the guy who brought us the Bathtub car that Lohnes recently featured, and on the site you’ll find pictures of it back when it was nice. He built Super Van, which was restored on the TV show Chop, Cut, Rebuild a couple years ago, and has such crazy cars as the Red Baron, Pool Table Car, Monster Cycle, and The Roach Coach on his resume. Jay’s creations have graced the silver screen, the small screen, and the Guiness Book of World Records. His collection includes cool stuff, like the A-Team van, Batmobiles of every flavor, the Coyote from Hardcastle and McCormick (below), the General Lee, and the Monkee Mobile GTO.

This site takes you back to the days of sitting in your dad’s car at the drive-in, or playing with hot wheels on the rug while watching Batman, which is appropriate considering Jay’s passion stems from the cars that inspired him in his youth. His early days as a hot rodder developed into a desire to build his own cars because he wasn’t satisfied with what everyone else had. And while his taste may not be mainstream, it certainly has created the myth and mystique you expect in Hollywood, all of which is available by sifting through this online collection. You’ll spend plenty of time going through all the pictures and information that Jay has available on the site, including drawings of cars before they were built, and parts to build your own clone movie car.

Ever want to park a Flintstone’s car in your driveway? Jay’s got kits for those plus different variations of KITT from Knight Rider. And if you are having a special event and want someone more famous than us to show up, he’s got cars for rent as well. Imagine having some Duke Boy look-alikes at your birthday party, along with a real General Lee. Hood sliding is, unfortunately, prohibited.
