Moroso Motorsports Park Conundrum

Moroso Motorsports Park Conundrum

We’ve been following with some interest the revitalization of Florida’s former Moroso Motorsports Park since it was purchased by an ownership group last year. The new guys really went to town, spending millions to upgrade the dragstrip and the rest of the large, multi-purpose facility.

Now the bill has come due for the work and there seems to be a line of contractors with their hands out to be paid. The problem is that the track ownership has a death grip on its cash.

The Palm Beach Post is reporting that the ownership group is not refusing to pay because they’re broke but rather because they are being “unscrupulously” overcharged. One of the owners, Gil Dezer was quoted as saying, “The prices people agreed to are not the prices that are today. I thought the contractors were taking advantage.”

Needless to say, we’re thinking that there’s an easy way to settle this. Why not just dig out the contracts for the work and see what’s what?

We’re thinking that these guys have spent themselves into a big hole and are doing whatever they can to keep it from getting deeper. We hope these guys didn’t botch up the future of a nice track in Florida.
