Tune in, set your DVRs, or gather with your buddies at the local watering hole and demand they change the channel tomorrow night at 8pm (7pm Central) the first ever SEMA Battle Of The Builders TV Special will air on the Velocity Channel. This show is really neat because it was made by SEMA and is centered around the killer cars that were at the show this year. Freiburger, Fred Williams, and Sam Du were in charge of picking the 10 finalists in the competition which started out with over 125 entries and from there the 10 finalists judged each other to determine who would be named the Ultimate Builder in the 2014 SEMA Battle Of The Builders competition.
The show is focused about the cars and not a bunch of whining, wrench throwing, lame drama. While you have seen lots of them through the photos we run during the show on BangShift, you’ll get to hear them run and learn more about them from the people who actually bled, sweated, and thrashed on the cars before the show. We’ll be tuned in and you should be to. This should be some good TV!
SEMA BATTLE OF THE BUILDERS TV SPECIAL PREMIERES MARCH 8
–Program Highlights Newest SEMA Show Event and Competition–
DIAMOND BAR, CA (February 17, 2015) – The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) is pleased to announce the first SEMA-produced television special that premieres on the Velocity channel on Sunday, March 8 at 8:00 p.m. (EDT). The unique one-hour program features the first-ever SEMA Battle of the Builders competition highlighting the Top Ten builders, their vehicles and their journey to the inaugural competition.
The Battle of the Builders competition began with more than 125 vehicle builders and car customizers who entered 165 vehicles into the competition. These builders represent an elite group of individuals who have demonstrated extreme talent, creativity and craftsmanship in modifying cars, trucks and SUVs.
Editors of leading automotive magazines — Sam Du from Super Street, David Freiburger from Hot Rod, and Fred Williams from Petersen’s 4Wheel & Off Road — selected the Top Ten builders. These ten finalists then judged one another and voted to determine who was named the Ultimate Builder of the 2014 SEMA Battle of the Builders.
The special culminates at the first annual SEMA Ignited event, where the top three finalists and winner were announced in front of thousands of enthusiasts. SEMA Ignited, held at the Linq in Las Vegas, was open to the public and allowed attendees a chance to see the latest automotive accessories on many of the vehicles that were on display during the 2014 SEMA Show. Hundreds of vehicles exited the Las Vegas Convention Center after the SEMA Show for the SEMA Cruise and made their way to SEMA Ignited.
The SEMA television special celebrates the unique aftermarket industry and the people dedicated to their craft. Tune in to the Velocity Network on March 8, at 8:00 p.m. (EDT), for an in-depth view of this brand-new competition and watch as the winner of the first-ever SEMA Battle of the Builders competition is announced. So I finally get to the bottom of why I missed it last week….you’re alright for a white guy Mr Lohnes.
It is still on my bucket list to actually go there in person.
Just saw the show tonight and what awesome car builds! Predictably a 69′ Camaro wins, although my favorite was the 32′ 4-door Highboy.
