The Associated Press has reported that NASCAR has filed documents with the U.S District Court accusing Jeremy Mayfield of lying to that court. This is the strongest offensive move NASCAR has made thus far in the chess game that this case has become.
NASCAR’s filing accuses Mayfield of lying about when he was contacted to take a mandatory drug test. It is the second test that he failed and the test he is disputing the results of with a second test he claims to have taken just 40 minutes later.
It has been Mayfield doing most of the talking in the media with NASCAR playing defense and seemingly biding their time. If their accusations on this matter prove to be true, they may have just sunk his battleship.
