Don Garlits is making a comeback of sorts. He’s got his Drag Pack Challenger finished and ready to go, according to a report on Ocala.com. After racing one of the cars at their debut last year at the Mile High Nationals in Denver he decided that he needed to have the first one. Dodge obliged.
While it seems that the Mustang Cobra Jets have stolen a lot of the thunder from the Challengers, but we’re thinking that the light may swing back in the Mopar direction when Garlits starts making laps. We’re guessing that he’s running his car in Stock Eliminator, not an easy place for a 78-year old guy to get his feet wet in competitive drag racing again. Then again, his name may buy him a couple rounds.
Crazy to think Big Daddy is almost 80. Pretty awesome that he’s still out there thrashing. Hell, we saw him hooking up his own 5th wheel trailer at Bowling Green!
