New IHRA Pro Fuel Class Looks Cool, Veale/Brown Motorsports Digger will be there

The IHRA announced some major league format changes for the 2010 season, and they also announced some new classes that will be contested. One of them is being called “Pro Fuel” and is essentially a wide open, injected nitro dragster class. We think it is bitchin’ because these injected nitro cars have been handicapped for a long time in the NHRA to keep their even with the blown alcohol dragsters. Now they’ll be able to run them wide open, with 100% nitro in the tank!

One of the teams that will be competing at many of the races is the Veale and Brown Motorsports team that runs big honkin’ BangShift.com decals on the flanks of their dragster. These guys were part of the test runs for the class and are really excited to run it next season.

Bob Ottow, a long time crew chief and component manufacturer for injected nitro dragster championed the idea to IHRA and has very high hopes for the class. He’s thinking we’ll see 300 mph, four second, injected fuel dragsters this year. Those two benchmarks are magical numbers to the guys who run these cars. Being the first to make it to that plateau will be a career making accomplishment.

The IHRA will still have Top Fuel dragsters at their races, this class, along with “Pro-Stalgia Funny Cars” come as additions to the show. You can read all the details about how this class came about the the buzz surrounding it here.
