I know I’m not alone in griping just about every time I have to take one of the modern spring hose clamps off of a radiator or heater hose on a modern car. Gone are the days of the normal hose clamps that use a 1/4 inch or 5/16 inch socket to loosen and tighten them. Hell, most people use screwdrivers for those too, which is also not the right tool and a flat blade screwdriver is always a pain to use anyway. But the spring loaded ones never seem to be simple to remove because regular pliers or Channel Locks don’t grip them right. And that’s what there are special pliers just for removing them.
But do I own those? NOPE! Am I going to pay $82 for a set from Snap-On? Not on a bet! So I will struggle and cuss the clamps, while using whatever pliers I grab out of the tool drawer.
Or, you can buy these $10 pliers from Workpro. And I’m sure there are other cheap brands too, so I’m going to pick some up before I do my squarebody Suburban LS Swap because it will probably be pretty stock under the hood and that means the factory style clamps would be a good fit.
Check out this Workpros and let us know what other specific tools you’ve bought that really were worth it for the time and frustration that they save.
