You really only want your cam doing one thing and that is rotating in your block to move the lifters and get the valves to doing their job, right? This, like everything else involving a race engine is doubly true. A cam that is moving or walking in the block is a recipe for disaster on about 100 fronts. Sure, there are guys who think that good enough is OK and they will use a stock cam retainer but those are the guys who do not staying the racing engine business long. Race motor + stock parts = more $$ spent in the end.
This new LS three bolt cam retaining plate is made up of two pieces, the thrust plate and the lock plate. The thrust plate is made from a bronze based alloy that beats the crap out of the stocker and the whole piece is precision machined to the high tolerances COMP maintains for all of their products.
