The guys at Vortech are totally cool with us, and now they’ve got a new part we need to beg them for. Did you know you can get superchargers for the General Motors 3.7L inline five-cylinder engines? It’s meant for the H3 Hummer, but whatever. Instead, we’re thinking how cool it would be to pull one of these from the junkyard, add the Vortech unit, and put it in a hot rod so everyone could ask what our weirdo engine is.

Vortech Engineering has introduced high-output (HO) charge cooled supercharging systems for the 2008 3.7L I5 GM H3 Hummer.

The addition of the new V-3 Si-Trim centrifugal supercharger will increase crankshaft power from 242 to 340 HP with additional torque up to 307 lb.ft. at 7 PSI. on 91 octane pump gasoline.
 
The V-3 compressor has an advanced impeller design for ultra-high efficiency and features an internal oil reservoir (self-lubricated) that does not require a connection between the engine oil pan and the compressor gear case…no oil line.

The integrated dual-pass air/water charge cooler utilizes a closed-loop water cooling configuration with a stand-alone pump, tank and front mounted heat exchanger.

Fuel management includes high-flow fuel injectors and an ECU re-flash exchange through Vortech. 50-state smog legal under CARB #D-213-27.

All components needed to bolt the system to a stock vehicle are included, such as compressor bypass valve, aluminum mounting brackets, all necessary belts, pulleys, fasteners and reusable high-flow air filter.

Available in satin or polished finish components. A 3-year/36,000 mile powertrain limited warranty is optional. Suggested retail price is $5500.95
