We were tipped off to a story that ran in the Wall Street Journal a couple days ago about the infusion of Arab money into drag racing. Specifically, it keys in on the Al-Anabi team of Alan Johnson.
It’s a pretty good read and seems to confirm that the Sheik spending all the cash is recession proof to some level as he’s committed huge sums of money to long-term deals in the sport.
The other thing to think about is that stories like this don’t just “happen.” Someone had to plant the seed about this. That’s usually done by a team’s PR rep. If that’s the case the dude deserves a raise because this exposed lots of people to the Al-Anabi name and to drag racing in general.
