One-Mile Land Speed Racing Comes to the West: The Mojave Mile Opens in March

Land Speed Racing seems to be the hot ticket these days with new venues popping up with regularity. Thanks to a tip from DragRacingOnline’s Darr Hawthorne, we’re happy to fill you in one the newest places where you can wring out your junk: the Mojave Mile in Mojave, California, will be open for business in March of 2010.

This place joins Maxton, Goliad, and Loring as venues for LSR events on airport runways. Mojave boasts a 12,000-foot runway and will have a one-mile acceleration zone. Among the airport venues, Loring, Maine, is the only one boasting a 1.5 mile acceleration zone.

We think that it is cool the California racers can get in on the addicting fun that we’ve experienced at Maxton. Any new place to race is great news!
