Outerlimits Powerboats Founder and CEO Mike Fiore Dies As Result Of Missouri Boat Wreck

(Michael Fiore is pictured center above) – We are saddened to report that Michael Fiore, the founder and CEO of Outerlimits Powerboats has died as the result of injuries he sustained in the massive crash that we told you about the other day at the 2014 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Missouri. While traveling at a very high rate of speed, the boat left the water, flipped, flew and landed very hard on the hull. Fiore suffered injures during the crash and apparently passed when doctors were trying to perform surgery to repair said injuries.

Racing anything is dangerous and we’re sure that Michael Fiore understood that as well as any other guy that climbs into a race car or racing boat. He was out on the water because he loved it. He was there because it was a driving passion that lead him to create and shepherd a business that build some of the best and fastest boats in the world. He was out there because he was a hot rodder and a racer like the rest of us.

Fiore was a family man with three kids, a wife, and of course the business. Often we struggle when looking at situations like this and start asking why. Why was he out there racing this boat? This simple answer is the same one that you’d give if someone asked you why you were in the driveway, in the garage, or at the drag strip with your car. You HAVE to be spending that time to keep your sanity, enjoy your life, etc. The same goes for Fiore.

We normally do not run crash videos on the site unless we know the outcome. In this case, we knew that both men were injured but reports indicated that they were in stable, if not serious condition. I’d like to extend a personal apology to the family for the fact that we ran the video and I’ve since removed it from our site. If that were a member of my own family I would not appreciate seeing it plastered everywhere.

Godspeed Michael Fiore.

This message was posted to the Outerlimits Powerboat Facebook page yesterday –

“Outerlimits Offshore Powerboat Company President/CEO and Founder Michael Fiore passed away this evening from injuries sustained during a boating event in Missouri over the weekend. Mr. Fiore, age 44 of Bristol, RI developed complications from surgery when he died at University Hospital in Missouri. The entire Outerlimits family is devastated by the loss of our friend and leader of our company. Mike’s love for high speed boating was only out matched by the love for his wife, three young children and his family. Details on arrangements will be made and released in the coming days, and in the meantime we hope all understand the family’s need to grieve for their loss privately,” said Frank Sciacca, General Counsel of Outerlimits Offshore Powerboat Company.

I doubt his family is paying attention Brian but I’m sure the thought is appreciated just the same.

The whole family of boaters and boat racers mourn the loss of one of our family. Michael Fiore will be sorely missed by this family including everyone who Micheal ever met. A gentleman, and exceptional builder and innovator. His accomplishments will be remembered forever.
God bless your family and “God Speed Michael”
