Mortske is always grabbing interesting projects, and he is good about sharing what it takes to get them into good shape and this one is no different. This is a steal for sure, because at $2500 this big block powered crew cab is worth that just for the engine and trans. These GMT800 trucks are some of the best that GM ever built, and you can buy just about everything needed to clean one up either from the aftermarket or the wrecking yard since they built 8 jillion of them. The big block that powers this bad boy is the largest GM ever factory installed at 496 cubic inches. These 8.1L beasts made big power, are really good at making more with available hop up parts, and are backed by a really stout Allison transmission. This one needs a little love, as it’s got some rust, but it’s a good platform that is worthy of repair.
