Money No Object: This 1972 Buick Electra Is A Bitchin’ Battlecruiser!

Money No Object: This 1972 Buick Electra Is A Bitchin’ Battlecruiser!

Show me an off-the-wall car built with the attitude that it properly deserves, and I’ll drool like Pavlov’s dog when the dinner bell starts to ring. You should know what that means: find me a Mustang II that actually has some guts to bring some kind of honor back to the nameplate. Find me a Dodge Colt with a 4G63 that’s more pressurized than a shaken-up soda and I’ll be in lust. Find me an old GMC flatbed with a Duramax swap but leave it looking like it just pulled out of the farm in 1978 and I’m done. I’m that kind of person. It’s one thing to be weird for the sake of being weird. It’s another altogether to see the potential in a car that most others just don’t. And when you find that somebody has the same kind of vision that you do, you recognize it on the spot.

This Buick Electra nails it for me. Make no mistake whatsoever…this is one big MF, with big rolling stock out back and room for at least six of your big-assed buddies to sit in pure Americana comfort inside. The powerplant is just as big, with the Buick 455 looking downright dainty in that cavernous engine bay. The Dana 60 out back is going to do everything it can to not be the fuse between Buick torque and the grip of the 31×18 Mickey Thompsons out back. Looking badass in black, there’s nothing I would change, except for getting the trunk color-matched if it is red like the photos suggest.

From the ad:

  • Rebuilt cammed 455 big block with 850 Holley carb
  • Turbo 400 with stall converter
  •  New custom exhaust
  • Full back half/tubbed car
  • Ladder bar/coil over set up
  • Dana 60 with 3.56 gears, Strange 32 spline axles
  • 15×15 weld pro stars 31×18 M/T
  • Bucket seats with B&M floor shifter
  • New 5” tach
  • New tint

Will come with a big-block Chevy that’s had some work done. 498ci, Brodix BB2 extra heads, custom cam shaft, Eagle crank, Lunati pro mod rods, new J&E pistons, new Quick Fuel Black Diamond 950 E85 carb, high rise intake, gaskets, solid mount rockers. (Motor not assembled) Very unique car, great family cruiser and great riding and running car! $18,000 OBO

I dig it. This rig reminds me that I always thought it’d be cool to ProStreet one of my mom’s Olds 98 Luxury Sedans, then the G-body came along and made everything too easy.

Yeah, family cruiser, right. I can hear my old lady now, “what’s wrong with you? You have kids in the car, leave me out, I’ll walk home, grow up”. Yada, yada, yada.
