This week’s video has Matt working on the fuel tank for the DeLorean roadster and we are getting excited about how far this car is coming along. The original tank had been modified and wouldn’t work now, but the new tank needs some customization and doesn’t match the car at all. So what is Matt going to do to make it right? We can’t wait to see.
Iron Trap has got all kinds of great projects, but this ’32 Ford Roadster is going to be something. It’s weird to see them getting new parts for a car like this, but it is the right choice to make this car as “original” as possible. Check out the two videos below that show how this project is getting started and then follow along as we’ll bring you regular updates.

Video Description:
The 1932 Ford Roadster was built with racing in mind, and that includes the gas tank. A lot of dry lake racers ran a fuel system that did not use an engine driven fuel pump, but a hand pump that would pressurize the tank and push the fuel to the carbs. To pressurize the tank the normal gas cap wouldn’t work, so the tank had to be modified. Matt removed the modified cap from the original tank, which was in terrible shape. Recently we found a nice original tank, so we will take the custom cap and modify the new tank.
