If you’ve been around here for awhile, you know that we love Bello’s Kustoms on YouTube. Mike Bello is funnier than hell, very talented, and has an eye for building customs. He’s all about traditional custom looks, but while making them great drivers that can keep up in traffic, and deserve to be called hot rods. I love watching his metal shaping on chop tops and such, but his chassis fabrication is nothing to sneeze at either. I’m not talking about the kind of chassis work that makes you drool over how it is all molded and smooth, but rather the kind that works and is dependable and durable and that looks like someone knows what they are doing.
In this video here, Mike has a customer who needs a chassis for his 1936 Ford and found a nice TCI chassis that would make a great start. TCI makes really nice stuff and for a ton of applications, but this one wasn’t configured for what Mike needed to do so some modification were necessary.
Watch and see how he adds a big C-Notch to the TCI chassis and then changes up the 4-link setup so that it will allow the chassis to sit on the ground once the air ride is deflated. I hope it inspires you to get out in the garage and fabricate some stuff on your own ride.
