Okay, they’re building a Granada. I can hate the car all I want, but the platform is actually not a bad one to work with. Essentially a Ford Falcon wearing a leisure suit, the Granada was the perfect home for a six-cylinder in normal situations, so why wouldn’t it accept a modern Ford inline-six with ease? With a Barra engine on their hands, the guys at Fuel Injection Sucks have been at work making a common but relatively unloved 1970s sled move out better than ever before. This naturally-aspirated 4.0L isn’t going to remain N/A, however…the turbocharger from some Volvo semi-tractor (hey, their words, not mine!) is going to be force-feeding Australia’s answer to the Toyota 2JZ. Jeezus.
With the question of the transmission needing some answers, and the transmission tunnel needing some percussive love with a small mallet to make way for the transmission, round two of the Barra-swapped Granada is ready to be seen. I’ll be waiting for the first burnout on those spindly-ass stock wheels and tires. Maybe then I might offer some begrudging respect for the one car I can’t bring myself to enjoy in any shape or form.
