The Fiero Revival, Part 12: Assembly? Sure…Let’s Start There.

With everything that he has done to the 1985 Pontiac Fiero 2M4 that he drug out of the woods, you would think that with every painted body panel that is going on, that the end is in sight, that the process is almost over. You would think so, but from the moment he acquired the car…okay, from the moment after he dumped the car off of the trailer…he has been obsessed over every last nut and bolt on this car. Every detail has been gone over, checked, verified, and replicated to the best of his ability. He’s more detailed than a wide variety of builders are. This is somewhere between an obsession and a mental disorder…but then, if you go this far into cars, you completely understand what that entails.

Which means that first thing’s first, we need to do some more paintwork because things aren’t up to par…even though this is Ronnie’s deepest dive into automotive painting, something that isn’t easy to get into and takes tons of work and years to master. Then there’s the jigsaw puzzle of putting the Fiero’s body back onto the rolling chassis, which we’re okay with. Nothing against the mini-Vette Kart look, but…we need to see the body back on the car. And we need to see the tiny details that he works through that would drive your ordinary weekend wrencher absolutely bonkers.
