Hit any racing event and you’ll see multitudes of people cruising the grounds on mini-bikes, golf carts, old mopeds and other small stuff. That’s all fine for them, but for us it is unacceptable (mostly due to the low weight ratings of the aforementioned vehicles). Nope we need something large enough to cause a serious incident and stout enough to survive incessant full throttle thrashings.
Going on that, you can only imagine our glee when we discovered this awesome “Swamp Tractor Buggy” for sale on RacingJunk.com. Not to be confused with a dune buggy, or desert racing buggy, the “swamp tractor buggy” is a unique engineering marvel unto itself.
Featuring a Chevy 350 backed by a Turbo 350 and a T18 4-speed, it rolls on Rockwell 2.5-ton axles, huge tires, packs a 38 gallon fuel cell in case you want to road trip it, and no functional braking system. You read that right. The seller states, “No brakes at this time but trying to get some on it.”
We can look past a detail like that because it has “storage under the seats” and a deck mounted beer cooler than looks good for at least two cases of liquid fun. Hell, what’s the danger of throwing a few back and rolling around the pits at the drag strip in this thing? Sure a race car or two may be crushed, but what’s that between friends?
